This oblong strip of country is situated on the shores of Lake Malawi, the most southern lake of the Great Rift Valley with clear water and fish to feed the nation. It has mountainous regions from which water feeds the big lake. Tourism is not much developed and the inhabitants are most friendly and helpful, which makes the country all the more interesting to discover. The Nyika Plateau and Liwonde National Park are famous for wildlife. Visit the Island Mambo on Lake Malawi where you will enjoy exclusive service as only a limited number of guests are allowed onto the island. The Kapichira waterfall is certainly worth a visit as much as the small town of Livingstonia, where David Livingstone lived once. Malawi has fertile soil and mainly subsistence farming. There are rubber and wood plantations in the north. All year round the climate remains moderate and pleasant.
